SUNY Canton is Northern New York’s premier college for career-driven bachelor’s degrees, associate degrees and professional certificate programs. Students in the Automotive Technology program use critical thinking skills to understand the history of the industry, evaluate the dynamics of the present, and envision mobility in the future. They will learn how to troubleshoot, diagnose and repair all aspects of the automobile power train, suspension, steering, braking and air conditioning systems. Recruiters and employers of SUNY Canton's graduates include dealerships, service industries, automobile manufacturers, and parts suppliers.
SUNY Canton is one of 20 colleges in the nation to offer this exclusive program. The four-year degree compliments and builds off of the College’s veterinary science technology associate degree program. Students in this program will be eligible to take the Veterinary Technology National Exam and become licensed technicians as well as having the career flexibility that a bachelor degree allows. The Nursing Program combines general education courses and nursing courses that allow students to complete their education in two years and be eligible to take the NCLEX-RN licensing exam. Classroom lectures, laboratory sessions and clinical practicums in area hospitals, long term care facilities and community health agencies are offered over the four semesters. Education is viewed as a mentoring relationship based on mutual respect and understanding that recognizes the diverse needs of the learner and empowers the learner to achieve their highest level of potential.
